Shores of southern Italy
The Bella Vista farm calls Reggio Calabria, Italy, home. Located on the western coast of southern Italy, the region of Calabria is a breathtaking mix of bustling port, seaside cliffs, wooded hills, and mountains.
Bergamot capital of the world
Near the shores of the Mediterranean Sea, the farm is located 20 miles outside the city of Reggio Calabria, where the year-round sunny and warm climate make this area ideal for citrus, especially bergamot, which grows almost exclusively on a particular strip of land. In fact, the area produces nearly 90 percent of the world’s bergamot essential oil. The Bella Vista Farm uses best practices to ensure quality and purity of their Bergamot as they work to meet the demand for this popular citrus oil.
Solar power equals sustainable power
The sunny climate of southern Italy is perfect for solar power, and the Bella Vista Farm takes full advantage of those rays. During the off season, the buildings on the farm rely 100 percent on solar energy. This practice is right in line with our 5×5 Pledge goal to achieve zero-waste status in the next five years. But the goal-achieving doesn’t stop there. Bella Vista also brings us one farm closer to our 5×5 goal of developing at least five corporate-owned or partner farms this year.

The Bella Vista Farm is a firm supporter of fair-trade principles by incorporating practices such as transparency and accountability, non-discrimination, and respect for the environment.
