Introduction to Black Spruce

Black Spruce Essential OilBlack Spruce Speaks

On March 9, 2015, Young Living produced Black Spruce essential oil for the first time at our Northern Lights farm in British Columbia. As the oil droplets bubbled up into the separator, Young Living Founder D. Gary Young felt as if the oil were speaking directly to him. This is what he sensed the essential oil saying:

Many Native Americans call me “Black Spruce of the Northern Lights” because during the aurora borealis, my branches touch the dancing colors in the sky, intertwining Mother Earth’s strength with the mysteries of the heavens. Hold and cherish my essence. Explore your God-given potential to know who you are. You have the power within you to change the world and be a living example of your creation.

Northern Lights Black Spruce

Young Living’s Northern Lights farm has been a passionate project for Gary from the beginning. Located in northern British Columbia, the farm’s harsh climate is ideal for growing hardy, essential oil-rich trees. Gary’s careful selection of this rugged region testifies of his deep devotion to harvesting only the best botanicals for essential oil production.

One major purpose of the farm is to create a new source of Black Spruce essential oil, which reflects the character of the trees from which is is produced, echoing their resilient, deeply-rooted strength. Each distillation has a special, inspiring aroma. This powerful oil is a key ingredient in many of Young Living’s most sought-after essential oil blends, including Valor, Abundance, Highest Potential, and others.

As we celebrate the first production of the Northern Lights Black Spruce essential oil, we reaffirm our commitment to our proprietary Seed to Seal® process. Our dedication to purity and authenticity sets us apart as the world leader in essential oils, and we are honored that you have joined in this journey to bring the best essential oils and oik-infused products to the world.

Essential Water

When trees such as black spruce are steam distilled, fragrant water separates from the oil and is collected for use. Although not as concentrated or as powerful as the essential oil, this essential water is very pleasant and can be used in a variety of unique ways, from footbaths and bathwater to steam saunas.
