Scott Johnson: Hello again and welcome to this edition of Young Living’s audio education series. I’m Scott Johnson, Young Living’s Director of Global Education and Sales, and I’m thrilled to have the opportunity today to discuss one of Young Living’s exotic and exclusive essential oils extracted from the trees on our Ecuadorian farm. The amazing and unique oil we’re referring to is Ocotea. Ocotea is distilled from large trees with sizeable canopy tops that are found in the Amazon wilderness on the west side of the Andes mountains. Native to Ecuador and Columbia, these formidable trees can grow over 60 feet tall and measure 48 inches in diameter. There are more than 350 known species of ocotea trees, and many of these species have been studied by scientists for their ability to support a normal inflammatory response. A July 2003 study published in the Journal of Food Chemistry found that the specific species Young Living uses possesses antioxidant properties as well. Ocotea also has natural cleansing and purifying properties; in fact Amazonian tribes used it for this very purpose and to support the digestive system.
Young Living founder and CEO, D. Gary Young, has a passion for helping others benefit from nature’s healing powers which takes him around the world as he tirelessly searches for new remedies. His efforts and vast knowledge has directly led to the discovery and production of the highest-quality, purest essential oils in the world. He has literally helped millions transform their health and their lives. Ocotea is one of the unique oils discovered by Gary. He was intrigued by the initial phytochemical analysis of ocotea and encouraged by the tree’s growing conditions and sustainability, but most impressive has been the practical application of this amazing oil which has produced amazing results for countless users. Amazonian tribes used ocotea for a variety of aches, and the scientific literature supports this usage. Ocotea has the highest level of alpha humulene of any Young Living essential oils, which is a compound that helps aid the body’s natural response to irritation and injury by supporting a normal inflammatory response. This property makes ocotea an ideal choice for quenching occasional aches and discomfort. Simply apply several drops, diluted with V-6 oil, to areas experiencing discomfort. Because ocotea contains up to 8% cinnamaldehyde it can be a little warm when applied topically, so keep your V-6 oil handy in case of skin irritation.
It possesses a complex warm aroma with a hint of cinnamon, but its aroma is completely distinctive from any common cinnamon. This aroma may encourage feelings of fullness and balance metabolism. Ocotea is an integral part of the Slique line because of this influence, being found in both Slique Tea and Slique Essence. This is why we invite you to enjoy the aroma of your Slique Tea before you drink it, and encourage diffusing Slique Essence. Doing this helps balance your emotions, which tend to fluctuate during attempts to lose weight. In addition it may help reduce appetite and cravings. Interestingly, historical data suggests that ocotea was used to add aroma to cakes and sweets more than 500 years ago. Maybe these ancient people were trying to balance the amount of sweet foods they ate so they could have their cake and eat it too, without overeating.
Other areas where ocotea excels is the fact that it helps support normal blood sugar levels, aids the body’s response to stress, and supports liver function. This is so important, considering that a growing body of evidence suggests that rapid changes in blood sugar levels are associated with a host of adverse health conditions. Conversely, maintaining a normal blood sugar level can have equally dramatic effects like balancing your mood, supporting a healthy immune system, and maintaining a normal inflammatory response, to name just a few. Ocotea provides a one-two punch by helping to reduce cravings and prevent overeating while supporting normal blood sugar levels. These actions not only help avoid rapid changes in blood sugar levels, but support your efforts to maintain a healthy weight.
Now that you have discovered what makes ocotea so special, start enjoying its many benefits today and realize why so many users love this exotic oil. Until next time, we wish you abundant health and a wonderful day.
