Gihndagun Farm – Young Living Partner in Tatham, Australia

Gihndagun Farm, Tatham Australia

LEHI, UtahNov. 8, 2018 /PRNewswire/ — Young Living Essential Oils, the world leader in essential oils, announced today that the Gihndagun (pronounced Gihn-dah-gun) Farm in Tatham, Australia, will become the company’s newest partner farm. Gihndagun—which means “respect the earth” in Aboriginal Australian—will provide Young Living with Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea Tree) essential oil, one of the most widely used and extensively researched essential oils. Tea Tree can be used for everything from home cleaning solutions to skin care.

The Gihndagun Farm, located near a small town 137 miles south of Brisbane, is Young Living’s third partner farm in Australia.

Young Living is the only essential oils company to have its own farms. By sourcing 100 percent of its oils from its corporate farms, partner farms, and Seed to Seal®-certified suppliers, Young Living has total visibility of the production of its oils—from seeding and cultivating to harvesting and distilling.

“Wherever Young Living puts down roots, it’s important that we’re partnering with the local community and tapping into their knowledge of botanicals,” said Lauren Walker, Chief Supply Chain Officer, Young Living Essential Oils. “We’re thrilled to join forces with this family company, which has more than 20 years of farming experience and puts skill and thought into every step of the Tea Tree oil production process. Just like Young Living, they are dedicated to sustainable growing practices, socially conscious principles, and the highest quality of essential oil production.”

The Gihndagun Farm boasts 100 acres of rich soil that is cultivated with all-natural tree biomass, wood chips, and naturally derived fertilizer. Crops are nourished with irrigation water, which is captured and reused. The farm proudly upholds the Australian Tea Tree Industry Association’s Code of Practice and is Halal certified.

To help achieve these rigorous standards, the Gihndagun Farm’s Tea Tree oil is tested at the nearby Southern Cross University Plant Science (SCPS) lab, which is globally recognized for its essential oils program, before being sent to Young Living’s labs for additional testing. In fact, two SCPS faculty are also members of the International Organization for Standardization’s essential oil committee.

All aspects of the Gihndagun Farm’s farming process—from planting to distillation—are monitored and maintained in partnership with quality control practices and testing. An independent audit also ensures that all essential oils produced meet Young Living’s strict Seed to Seal quality commitment.

As the world leader in essential oils and a renowned essential oils distiller, Young Living is continually improving its farms and global partnerships while staying dedicated to the Seed to Seal quality commitment. Young Living is committed to creating pure, high-quality essential oils and products through environmentally conscious methods.
