Along with Dr. Casabianca, Young Living has two GC-MS instruments, one at the Young Living Ecuador Farm and the other at the Young Living Global Headquarters in the Research &amp; Development labs.<\/p>\n<div class=\"text_exposed_show\">\n<p>Dr. Richard Carlson and I operate the GC-MS instrument in Young Living\u2019s Research &amp; Development labs in Lehi, Utah. Dr. Carlson and I have PhDs in analytical chemistry in addition to more than 50 years of collective research experience in GC-MS and other analytical instrumentation.<\/p>\n<p>Testing essential oil samples by GC-MS can be performed by inexperienced technicians and scientists. The GC portion of the instrument separates the 100-300 unique molecules by heat using only a single drop of essential oil.The MS portion of the instrument identifies each molecule by name (e.g., limonene).<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"attachment_9854\" style=\"width: 2058px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-9854\" class=\"size-full wp-image-9854\" src=\"http:\/\/www.essentialoilsage.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/woolley-20150325-gcms-inside.jpg\" alt=\"Inside GCMS\" width=\"2048\" height=\"1536\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-9854\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">This is what a GCMS looks like when you open the oven door.
